Following the 2010 Canterbury Earthquakes the rural community of Hororata was left devastated.  In the wake of the destruction the Hororata Community Trust was born with the mission of rebuilding and supporting their local and wider rural communities.

In 2014 Southfuels joined the Trust as a Strategic Partner and we have enjoyed a strong community connection with the surrounding areas ever since. Their flagship event the Hororata Highland Games is held annually in November and draws a crowd of over 10,000 who gather to enjoy all things Scottish.

In late April 2018 their inaugural Night Glow event saw a dozen balloons light up the night sky, along with bands, a wine and food trail and other activities for the whole family.

With the merger of Farmlands Fuel, Southfuels and Northfuels into Fern Energy in 2022 we are excited to continue our strategic partnership together.
